2008 ITW US Tour Leg 1 Compilation

In the year of 2008 Eddie Vedder embarked on his first ever solo tour supporting his album Into The Wild. The first leg of the tour started in April and was focused around the West coast of the USA. It was called "April Fools Tour" and this compilation is all around funny moments, such as an interactive Let My Love Open The Door performance, Dirty Frank riffs on mandolin, or a joky song for Sean Penn, an author of Into The Wild film and Ed's friend. Also Eddie played lots of new covers never heard at Pearl Jam concerts, and some rarities like a snippet of his old Bad Radio song "Believe You Me".
  1. Walking The Cow
  2. Her Majesty
  3. Growin' Up
  4. If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out

2009 Covers Live

Another chapter of endless Pearl Jam covers. In 2009 the band was restless introducing more and more new songs. Six covers were played for the first time and never again, so it was really special year of touring. And, as always, there are some more great cover performances.

  1. Leaving Here (composed by Holland-Dozier)
  2. (Interstellar Overdrive) (Pink Floyd cover)
  3. Whip It (Devo cover) -played once and never again
  4. The Needle And The Damage Done (Neil Young cover)
  5. Golden State -with Corin Tucker (John Doe cover) -played once and never again
  6. Walking The Cow (Daniel Johnston cover)
  7. (Angie) (Rolling Stones cover)
  8. Not Given Lightly -with Neil and Liam Finn (Chris Knox cover) -played once and never again
  9. Better Be Home Soon -with Neil and Liam Finn (Crowded House cover) -played once and never again
  10. Last Kiss (Wayne Cochran cover)
  11. If You Want Blood /You Got It + Blood -with Mike McCready on back vocals (AC/DC cover) -played once and never again
  12. Mountain Song -with Perry Farrell from Jane's Addiction (Jane's Addiction cover) -played once and never again
  13. So You Wanna Be A Rock And Roll Star (with Ed's story: This job I got now I'm never gonna fuckin' quit) (The Byrds cover)
Updated to ver 2.00 (2012-12-14): Serious upgrade: removed "Throw Your Arms Around Me", "Throw Your Hatred Down", "I Got You" - better versions of these songs are now in 2006 Covers; changed song's order and more work done to polish this compilation.

Avocado Live

You can find Avocado on the front cover, and on the back cover, and on the inside cover of Self-titled Pearl Jam album. Its release was followed by the strong solid long 2006 World Tour. Band was on fire, Ed's voice was in top form and songs from Pearl Jam are not too difficult to play. Live songs are very similar to their album versions, but "Come Back" got some alterations in final solo, and "Army Reserve" and "Big Wave" were often played with longer and a bit different outros.
  1. Inside Job
  2. World Wide Suicide
  3. Severed Hand
  4. Comatose
  5. Marker In The Sand
  6. Gone
  7. Parachutes
  8. Life Wasted
  9. Wasted Reprise
  10. Unemployable
  11. Big Wave
  12. (Jeff & Stone rehearsal intro) Come Back
  13. Army Reserve
  14. Guaranteed
  15. No More
Updated (2012-12-09) to ver. 2.02: "Severed Hand" is now from 2006 Toronto, "Wasted Reprise" is from 2006 Chicago, "Big Wave" with 3-guitar outro is from 2006 LA.

Dedicated to R.E.M.

"To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening."  R.E.M.

Sorry, this post is not about Pearl Jam, but I'm really sad and disappointed about R.E.M. break-up and would like to thank and wish all the best to Michael, Mike and Peter for their wonderful music they shared with us.

You know, that 1997 Christmas single Pearl Jam and R.E.M. released together. R.E.M. also released Christmas singles with the artists like Radiohead or Neil Young. There is a collection of R.E.M. Christmas singles from 1988 up to the final year of 2011 (52 songs).
UPDATE (2012-11-02): Singles from 1988 up to 1994 had been replaced with re-encoded tracks from recently found CD

2005 Canadian Tour Compilation

Eddie started this tour at not his best vocal form, but improved show by show. So, vocally the best songs are to be found at the end of the tour. Also mark Winnipeg - it was the really nice show. Highlights for this tour are some funny band-audience interactions like "Let Stone sing!", or many other kinds of 'pearls', such as "sitar-like" jam on "Even Flow", 2005-only tag "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend", Ed's solo presentation of "Gone" and more. Also this was a Ramones-tribute tour with some songs to remember, and don't forget that Canada is Neil Young's home land.
  1. I Believe In Miracles (slow tempo)
  2. Wishlist (tag: you've got to hear the truth)
  3. Daughter (Another Brick In The Wall)
  4. Immortality
  5. Hard To Imagine
  6. Better Man (I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend)
  7. Even Flow
  8. Long Road
  9. Black (improv tag: "still I wonder")
  10. Rearviewmirror
  11. Improv (Let Stone sing!)
  12. Harvest Moon
  13. Gone  (Ed solo)
  14. Crazy Mary
  15. Porch
  16. Improv (Drop the Leash!)
  17. Rockin' In The Free World
  18. Yellow Ledbetter
Updated to ver. 1.01 (20-11-2010): Added Black with "still I wonder" improv. tag from Ottawa; removed Off He Goes;
Updated to ver. 1.02 (2012-12-18): added "Hard To Imagine", removed "Not For You" and "Given To Fly", lots of minor tweaks concerning improving sound quality.

2005 Latin American Tour Compilation

2005 Latin American tour is the first and the last one so far to visit Chile, Argentina and Brazil. Spanish and Portugeese speaking crowds are maybe the loudest singers in the world so this tour on stadiums is very special. No surprise that my compilation is full of chants and great singalongs - this was the main focus in song selection. The real pearls are It's Ok tag in Spanish (called Esta Bien) performed in Mexico and fantastic stadium crowd singing after Yellow Ledbetter in Buenos Aires.
As for the shows, my favorites are the ones in Santiago de Chile and Buenos Aires. Brazilian shows were even more intense, but plagued with Ed's vocal problems. After all South American madness Monterrey show was not the one to remember, but Mexico city audience performed as always well.
  1. Given To Fly
  2. Jeremy
  3. Improv (Santiago ole-ole)
  4. Better Man (Modern Girl)
  5. Black (We Belong Together)
  6. (Improv) Save You
  7. Interstellar Overdrive
  8. Not For You (Mexico chant)
  9. Daughter (Esta Bien)
  10. Untitled + MFC
  11. Kick Out The Jams (with Mudhoney)
  12. Rockin' In The Free World
  13. Yellow Ledbetter (Buenos Aires chant)

1995 Mirrorball Tour Compilation

In 1995 Pearl Jam had an interesting experience to serve as a backup band for Neil Young's album "Mirrorball". In summer Neil Young embarked on 11-date tour in Europe and Israel to promote this record, and his touring band consisted of Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, Jack Irons and Brendan O'Brien on keyboard (producer of many Pearl Jam albums). Only Eddie Vedder was not present.
Set-lists for this tour were pretty much the same. Only audience records exist. Making this compilation, I tried to avoid performances with a long exhausting 15-20 min jams and focused on achieving nice easy listenig. Of course, the great "Cortez The Killer" is on the list.
  1. Mr. Soul
  2. Peace And Love
  3. Scenery
  4. Don't Let It Bring You Down
  5. Mother Earth
  6. Cortez The Killer
  7. (band presentation)
  8. Powderfinger

    2010 Covers Live

The 2010 tour produced 5 new covers, 2 of them have been played one time only ("OTO" songs). Jersey Girl and Goin Back To Indiana have been played one time before in 1998. And let this MSG performance of Hunger Strike be there until we finally get that famous 2003 Temple Of The Dog set with Chris Cornell in soundboard quality! Note, that Walk With Me from the second Bridge School show is a bit different to the first one, used in 2010 European tour compilation.
    1. Public Image (Public Image Limited cover)
    2. Arms Aloft (Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros cover)
    3. Walk With Me* -with Neil Young (Neil Young cover)
    4. Dancing Barefoot* (Patti Smith cover)
    5. Jersey Girl (Tom Waits cover)
    6. (Brain Damage) (Pink Floyd cover)
    7. Goin' Back To Indiana (Jackson 5 cover)
    8. Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love (Van Halen cover)
    9. Hunger Strike -with Ben Bridwell from Band Of Horses (Temple Of The Dog song)
    * - taken from audience recordings of 2010 Bridge School Benefit shows. Dancing Barefoot is heavily enhanced from original source.

    2010 European Tour Compilation

European part of 2010 tour was mainly a festival run with shortened and pretty similar set lists, except only couple of "normal" shows. Also Ed's vocal form was nothing in comparison to previous fantastic US leg. But we cannot rate European tour as a heap of garbage. The first highlight was the debut of brand new song - Of The Earth, maybe the heaviest and most agressive song musically after the Ten era. And this is the first song with improv jam inside after Rearviewmirror! The second highlight was very touching Moment of silence during Berlin show dedicated to "nine friends we'll never know" - the victims of Roskilde tragedy 10 years ago. Next song performed was Come Back and Eddie could not hold his tears during singing. This is why this Come Back is definitely not the best live Come Back, but I strongly believe that this touching performance must not be omitted from this compilation.

As the European tour did not provide too many special songs, I also used songs from 2010 Bridge School Benefit (I had to use these beautiful songs somewhere!). Debut of Santa Cruz, two new great covers, "lullaby" version of Better Man (Ed played it before in his solo shows) are the real pearls for this compilation. And finally I've found a good modern Release not disrupted by Boom Gaspar's piano "playing". :)

My personal favorite show for this tour is Portugal. Also Irish shows were interesting to listen. And, in opposition to fan's reviews, French gig was loud and good.
    1. Release
    2. (Brain Damage)
    3. Corduroy
    4. No Way
    5. (falstart improv) Comatose
    6. Arms Aloft
    7. Even Flow
    8. Improv (Portugal, Portugal)
    9. Of The Earth (with very early lyrics)
    10. Just Breathe
    11. Santa Cruz* (acoustic)
    12. Dancing Barefoot* (acoustic)
    13. Better Man* (re-arranged "lullaby" version; acoustic)
    14. Walk With Me* (with Neil Young; acoustic)
    15. Black* (piano and strings version; acoustic)
    16. (Moment of silence) (dedicated to Roskilde tragedy 10 years ago that day)
    17. Come Back
    18. Yellow Ledbetter
    * - Audience recordings from Bridge School Benefit shows.

    Riot Act Live

Riot Act is very dark depressive album. Songs from Can't Keep to Thumbing My Way (plus All Or None) are strongly bound together lyrically with Eddie failing to find the way out of problems around him and around the world. Some songs are nothing but the enraged political attacks. Maybe this is why so many cool and positive outtakes from Riot Act sessions were omitted from the album.
Down, Undone, Last Soldier - this compilation has got very strong bonus. There's no Arc in set-list because the band erased all it's live performances from 2003-tour official bootlegs. But you could hear this song in Eddie Vedder's solo bootlegs from 2008 and 2009. And there's no Help Help because it was performed only in 2003, but my work on this year still has not been started.
    1. Can't Keep
    2. Save You
    3. Love Boat Captain
    4. Cropduster
    5. Ghost
    6. I Am Mine
    7. Thumbing My Way
    8. You Are
    9. Get Right
    10. Green Disease
    11. Bu$hleaguer
    12. 1/2 Full
    13. All Or None
    14. You're True
    15. Other Side
    16. Man Of The Hour
    17. Undone
    18. Down (acoustic)
    19. Last Soldier
Updated to ver. 1.01 (2011-03-01). Many changes to bonus section: added Other Side from 2010 Bridge School Benefit 2; You're True is now from 2006 Honolulu; Undone is now from 2006 Newcastle; excluded "electric" version of Down; changed song's order in bonus section; some files rewaved.
Updated to ver 1.02 (2015-07-14): mp3 tags changed
