  3. Whip It (Devo cover) -played once and never again
  4. The Needle And The Damage Done (Neil Young cover)

  6. Walking The Cow (Daniel Johnston cover)
  7. (Angie) (Rolling Stones cover)
  8. Not Given Lightly -with Neil and Liam Finn (Chris Knox cover) -played once and never again
  9. Better Be Home Soon -with Neil and Liam Finn (Crowded House cover) -played once and never again
  10. Last Kiss (Wayne Cochran cover)
  11. If You Want Blood /You Got It + Blood -with Mike McCready on back vocals (AC/DC cover) -played once and never again
  12. Mountain Song -with Perry Farrell from Jane's Addiction (Jane's Addiction cover) -played once and never again
  13. So You Wanna Be A Rock And Roll Star (with Ed's story: This job I got now I'm never gonna fuckin' quit) (The Byrds cover)
Updated to ver 2.00 (2012-12-14): Serious upgrade: removed "Throw Your Arms Around Me", "Throw Your Hatred Down", "I Got You" - better versions of these songs are now in 2006 Covers; changed song's order and more work done to polish this compilation.

2009 Backspacer Tour US Leg Compilation

Backspacer Tour started in Seattle, focusing on the West Coast of USA, and ended with four incredible shows in Philadelphia Spectrum. The final one lasted approx. 3,5 hours and is one of the longest ever Pearl Jam gigs. Philadelphia shows are also famous because the band decided to perform something like their 2003 Boston experiment. Of course, they couldn't play the entire Pearl Jam catalog, but they did almost 100 different songs including some really obscure rarities like the debut of Bugs from Vitalogy. Another pearls for this tour were: the introduction of string quartet to perform The End, Just Breathe, Parting Ways and... Lukin, first time horns on stage for The Real Me and Ben Harper on lap steel guitar on Red Mosquito.
So it was really interesting and special. Maybe some people were alienated by Eddie's usual vocal problems - ACL taping video translation showed how terribly worn Ed's voice was. But both ACL shows were the bottom of his fall. Other shows are better and at Philadelphia 4 Ed was absolutely alright, so together with long and very special set-list it makes this show a true "must have" for everyone. Some more shows were great: Los Angeles 4 and Philadelphia 3.
All songs in "Backspacer section" are different from the ones in Backspacer Live: there is no or almost no Boom Gaspar on The Fixer, Amongst The Waves and Force Of Nature (also with altered solo), Supersonic from Seattle was played with completely different lyrics (only once). Also look for Bugs (full song with falstart first attempt), acoustic Lukin with strings and best version of Jazz Odyssey improv. Red Mosquito with Ben Harper is with longer solo than the one I selected for No Code Live. Daughter with crappy Ed's vocals was taken for very interesting Mike's riff at the end on the song (altered version was then often played in 2010).
  1. Life Wasted
  2. Daughter (Sympathy For The Devil) (W.M.A.)
  3. Supersonic (completely different lyrics)
  4. The Fixer
  5. Amongst The Waves
  6. Force Of Nature
  7. Just Breathe (with strings)
  8. The End (Ed solo)
  9. Golden State
  10. Rearviewmirror
  11. Bugs (full version)
  12. Lukin (acoustic with strings)
  13. Improv (Jazz Odyssey) (version 1)
  14. Red Mosquito (with Ben Harper on lap steel guitar)
  15. Out Of My Mind
  16. All Those Yesterdays
  17. Parting Ways (with strings)
  18. So You Wanna Be A Rock And Roll Star (contains Ed's story: This job I got now I'm never gonna fuckin' quit!)
Updated to ver. 1.01 (24-11-2010): Porch removed; Just Breathe is now from LA4; Bugs is now full performance (with falstart); changed songs order.

2009 Backspacer Tour Australasian Leg Compilation

Although Backspacer tour in Australia and New Zealand consisted only of seven dates, Pearl Jam tried hard to make it special. The band introduced some covers to local band's songs, including If You Want Blood by AC/DC (Mike McCready helped on back vocals) and couple of Neil Finn's songs with Neil himself on stage. And his son Liam performed with Pearl Jam at six shows out of seven. Three all-new covers were presented at three last gigs. Also Eddie's friend Ben Harper continued to tour with Pearl Jam and together they performed Red Mosquito at every show with Ben on lap steel guitar (another interesting version with altered solos included) and sometimes on vocals on Indifference.
As for the band, Mike once again completely changed solos for Off He Goes and Boom Gaspar finally learned how to play piano right on Love Reign O'er Me. Also I selected very solid classic version of In My Tree with slightly altered solo.
Ed's voice was constantly improving through the tour, it was much better than in States and in final shows it was almost perfect. Unfortunately, in Sydney Eddie has got terrible flue and his singing was hopeless fight against pain and heat. Fortunately, Sydney people gave Ed all support they could give and with all the band on fire saved that great show.

  1. Small Town
  2. Not For You (Ed's story of the local word "schoolie") (Modern Girl)
  3. In My Tree
  4. Off He Goes
  5. Red Mosquito (with Ben Harper on lap steel guitar)
  6. Indifference (with Ben Harper on vocals)
  7. Love, Reign O'er Me
  8. Throw Your Arms Around Me (with Liam Finn)
  9. Better Be Home Soon (with Neil Finn & Liam Finn)
  10. I Got You (with Neil Finn & Liam Finn)
  11. If You Want Blood / You Got It + Blood
  12. (band presentation: call me Eddie-ask-me-for-a-drink!)
  13. Yellow Ledbetter (AC/DC riffs)

2009 Pre-Backspacer Warm-up Tour Compilation

This small tour was a warm-up prior to the release of Backspacer album and consisted of 9 dates in Europe and North America. The band played some songs from new album: The Fixer, Got Some, The End and Supersonic (live debut). Another debut at this tour was Brother - it was performed just one time in 1991 as a instrumental track and now it returned as a full song (after release on Ten Reissue). Rats was played many times with Ben intro, probably to the memory of Michael Jackson suddenly died that year.
2009 was another disastrous year for Eddie's voice and the first show of the tour - Virgin Festival at Olympic park in Calgary - was one of the worst ever shows vocally for Pearl Jam (Eddie was not prepared for the hight of that place and found himself completely out of breath). However the reception was warm and the whole tour was definitely successful. Some vocal problems continued, but later shows (especially European) were almost good in terms of Ed's voice and absolutely fantastic in terms of audience support. My favorite show from this tour is Rotterdam - fire in band's guitars and extremely loud crowd made pretty simple set-list sound great! Also I think that other European shows were better, at least in terms of audience singing.
This tour's compilation is short so it would not take too much time to listen. Ed changed some lyrics in Lukin, there are some alterations in In Hiding usual solo, Supersonic is slightly different early version. Nothingman from Rotterdam is powered by very intense audience support, Rolling Stones' Angie was played as a snippet. And, as always, look for some cool jams on Porch and Even Flow.
  1. Supersonic
  2. Brother
  3. Even Flow
  4. Lukin
  5. In Hiding
  6. Nothingman
  7. (Ben) Rats
  8. (Angie)
  9. Alive
  10. Black (We Belong Together)
  11. Porch
Updated to ver. 1.01 on 2010-09-02: Removed In My Tree, because more special classic-like version with altered Mike's ending solo added to 2009 Australasian tour compilation.
